right now. a police chase that ended with the dramatic car crash in oakland just a few hours ago. six people rushed to the hospital as we just got word that one of the passengers, they have died. ktvu alex savage is live for us, including the man hunt underway right now. alex? >> reporter: police at this point are looking for the driver of the suv, but i also want to tell you here that the sergeant on scene, they have confirmed toney a 19-year-old man was killed in this crash here. he was a passenger inside this stolen suv you're looking at right now. it was being chased this morning by chp officers. the suv was packed with eight people inside, coming down this hill when the driver lost control and slammed into a tree. here was the scene around 3:30 this morning here on the drive in oakland. paramedics transported six passengers with various injuries. one of them later died. the pursue all began when police tried topping this suv when the driver of the suv took off. chp officers picked up the pursuit on the freeway in oakland. it's unclear if alcohol was involved here, but the sergean

, oakland police say they are holding a news conference to talk about two recent shootings that injured police officers. police say a 13-year-old veteran was shot and wounded by a suspect during a foot chase in the fruitvale district on friday. five days earlier, on january 21st, an undercover police officer was shot and wounded while working on seminary avenue. full recoveries are expected for both officers. >>> the super bowl found 49ers are already in the big easy this morning. fans waved 49er faithful fashion as the team took off for new orleans yesterday at noon. five hours later, they touched down in new orleans for a week of practice before the game. the odds are on the niners' side. they are favored to beat the ravens. san francisco has been to the super bowl five times and they've won each game. the last one in 1995. 49ers have settled in at their new headquarters in downtown new orleans. fans greeted the players and took pictures with them in front of large banners. today, the team will begin weight lifting, practice and team meetings and we have our own team in new orleans. t

arrested him last night around 9:00. they found him in a hotel in oakland and police say he surrendered peacefully. he is accused of setting the 25-year-old starr lamare on fire. the mother of low was dating oliver. it was a horrific scene on sunday afternoon. starr lamare ripped off her burning sweater while she was running and screaming. her sisters say starr lamare argued over the laundry with oliver he got gasoline and poured it on her and lit her on fire. her family says she has burns to her family and she could be in the hospital for four to five months. dexter oliver is now in jail and police plan to charge him with arson and attempted murder. >> thank you, amy. >> man who sped away from san francisco police on new year's day is due in court to face two counts of murder, the driver smashed into another car at 21st and ran into the front of a store. a woman in the car and a man on the street were both killed. district attorney says that the 19-year-old is charged with murder because there is in violence caused by violence of the reckless actions of a hand who is known gang member.

. ktvu tara moriarty is at the scene of police activity. it's happening in oakland. what is going on out there? >> reporter: we're not going to say exactly where we are. this operation is still under way. oakland police are doing a raid on this block you see behind me. there are emergency personnel out here. this is one of many raids going on this morning. we are told this operation one of the riskiest. these are alleged gang members and that weapons, drugs that sort of thing is being confiscated right now. the helicopter has been above us since before 5:00 this morning. that is when swat teams moved in and told the people inside of this home to get out. neighbors did report hearing a loud boom. we are not sure if that is a door being kicked in or flash grenades were being used. there is a tactical unit at the top of the street along with an ambulance. oakland police remaining tight lipped who these people are. once the raid is over and the evidence has been seized we'll be learning more about this operation. this is one of the biggest raids happening in the city of oakland. live from oa
